Gilmour Girls Varsity Golf opened the 2026 season with a 182-191 loss to Orange on Monday, Aug. 17, at Legend Lake Golf Club. The Lancers placed four golfers in the 40s, but Orange finished nine strokes lower to secure the match victory.

Mae Steigerwald led the team with a 44, setting the pace for the Lancers in their first match of the season. Brooke Leedy followed with a 47, while Callie Dennison added a 48. Those three scores kept Gilmour within range as the team worked through its first competitive round of the year.

Peyton Dennison completed the Lancers’ team total with a 52. The four counting scores of 44, 47, 48 and 52 combined for Gilmour Academy’s final mark of 191.

Gilmour also received a 53 from Morgan Pfundstein and a 54 from Isabella Rosko. Although those rounds did not factor into the 191 team total, the Lancers’ six listed golfers finished within a 10-stroke range, from the team-low 44 through the 54.

Orange’s 182 proved to be the difference in the opening match. Gilmour finished with three counting scores below 50 and established an early scoring benchmark to start the season.
