Gilmour Academy broke through late in the third quarter and relied on a shutout defensive effort to defeat Holy Name 7-0 on Friday at home. Dominic Dunlevy scored the game's lone touchdown with 4:02 remaining in the third quarter, providing the decisive points in the Lancers' first victory of the 2026 season.
The Lancers' defense kept Holy Name off the scoreboard throughout the Week 2 matchup. Bruno Cook led that effort with seven tackles and one sack, consistently disrupting the Holy Name offense. Michael Shaw added three tackles, broke up two passes and recorded an interception to help preserve the shutout.
Gilmour found its offensive rhythm through a productive rushing attack. Ryan Detzel, Nathan Lennon and Dominic Dunlevy combined for 184 yards on the ground, giving the Lancers a steady way to move the chains in a low-scoring game. Freshman Detzel led the way with 101 rushing yards.
Quarterback Tyler Pozgai completed two passes for 51 yards, with the biggest connection helping generate momentum during the third quarter. Pozgai found Nathan Lennon for a 40-yard completion, putting the Lancers in position to apply pressure before Dominic Dunlevy delivered the game's only touchdown later in the quarter.
With neither team scoring in the first half, each possession carried added importance after halftime. Gilmour's defense continued to deny Holy Name, while the rushing game controlled enough of the action to protect the narrow advantage. The Lancers then held firm through the fourth quarter, completing a 7-0 shutout and securing their first win of the season.
