Gilmour Lancers Victorious Over NDCL 2-1 On Opening Day
By Bill Schneider '95 Gates Mills, OH-- The formula for success for the Gilmour Lancers during the John Murphy era has been pitching and defense. That proved to be the winning formula again as the 2025 Lancer squad kicked off their season with a 2-1 victory over NDCL Saturday at Figgie Field at Sharnsky Stadium. Sean Pitrone went the first five innings for the victory, giving up one run on just one hit. Pitrone battled some control issues, walking three and hitting two more, but he struck out six when he needed them the most. CJ Santagata came in to work the last two innings to earn his first career save and was dominant, striking out five and walking one without giving up a hit. Zac Titas had two hits and two RBI, including a double to lead the Lancer hitting attack. Looking ahead, the Lancers will face the Bay Village Rockets on Monday, March 31st at Figgie Field at Sharnsky Stadium.
