Girls Tennis Tops Shaker Heights 4-1 for Fifth Straight Win on Senior Night

GATES MILLS, Ohio - Gilmour Girls Tennis celebrated Senior Night with its fifth consecutive victory Wednesday, defeating Shaker Heights 4-1 at home. The Lancers swept the three singles courts and added a straight-set win at first doubles to secure the team result.
Maeryn Ryznar set the pace at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Ryznar did not concede a game in either set, giving Gilmour a commanding performance at the top of the lineup and one of its four match points.
The Lancers were nearly as convincing on the other two singles courts. Savannah Drew earned a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while Lynn Talty completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 3 position. Together, the three Gilmour singles players dropped only five games across six sets.
Abigail Lynch and Scarlett Greer supplied the Lancers' doubles point. The No. 1 pairing took control with a 6-3 opening set and closed out the match 6-2 in the second. Odessa Snyder and Naya Hilal competed at No. 2 doubles, where Shaker Heights earned its lone point with a 6-3, 6-3 decision.
The 4-1 result gave Gilmour a complete Senior Night performance in front of a terrific home crowd. With straight-set victories on four courts and contributions throughout the lineup, the Lancers extended their winning streak to five matches.
Seniors Savannah Drew, Hannah Fouad, Scarlett Greer, Mary Halscheidt, Naya Hilal, Abigail Lynch, Liv Slocum, Odessa Snyder, Lynn Talty, and Sara Thompson were all honored before the start of the match.
Girls Varsity A Tennis is back in action on Monday, Sept. 28 in their final regular season match at Hathaway Brown.
