MASSILLON, Ohio - Gilmour’s Girls Varsity B Tennis team fell 5-0 to a tough Jackson team on the road Tuesday, Aug. 25. Jackson won each of the three singles matches and both doubles contests in straight sets during the noon match.

At No. 1 singles, Julia Aziz faced a difficult matchup and lost 6-0, 6-0. Hannah Fouad produced Gilmour’s strongest opening set in singles play at the No. 2 position, winning three games before dropping the match 6-3, 6-0.

Miki Iskra competed at No. 3 singles and continued battling through both sets. Iskra took one game in each set before Jackson completed a 6-1, 6-1 victory, securing the singles sweep for the home team.

The Lancers also worked through challenging matches in the doubles lineup. Ellie Deering and Lizzy Savron teamed at No. 1 doubles, taking a game in the opening set before falling 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Liv Slocum and Olivia Garcia won one game in each set in a 6-1, 6-1 loss.

Jackson’s depth across the lineup prevented Gilmour from extending any match to a third set. Still, the Lancers found games at four of the five positions, with Hannah Fouad pushing Jackson most closely during the opening set at No. 2 singles.
