Girls Varsity Golf Defeats Chardon 196-218 Behind Callie Dennison's 44

Girls Varsity Golf earned their second consecutive dual-match victory Tuesday, defeating Chardon 196-218 at St. Denis. Callie Dennison led the Lancers with a match-low round of 44, helping Gilmour secure the 22-stroke win.

The Lancers placed two golfers at the top of the individual scoring. Mae Steigerwald finished one stroke behind Callie Dennison with a 45, giving Gilmour a strong leading pair and a combined score of 89 from its two lowest rounds.

Ella Walbert added a 50, the Lancers' third counting score. That left Gilmour at 139 through its top three rounds and put the team in position to complete a sub-200 total with its final counting score.

Peyton Dennison and Mary Halschiedt each carded a 57, providing identical options for the fourth counting round. With one of those scores included alongside the 44, 45 and 50, Gilmour reached its winning total of 196. The other 57 gave the Lancers additional scoring depth while matching the score needed to complete the team result.

Chardon finished at 218, 22 strokes behind Gilmour. The Lancers' ability to combine two rounds in the mid-40s with a 50 and a 57 created the separation in the team standings.

The victory continued a strong stretch for Gilmour, which has now won two dual matches in a row. Callie Dennison's match-low 44 set the pace at St. Denis, while the Lancers' balanced scoring supplied the rest of the winning total.
