Hastings Scores Four as Lancers Beat Warren JFK 8-5 in Regular-Season Finale
WARREN, Ohio - Audrey Hastings scored four goals to power Gilmour Academy to an 8-5 girls soccer victory over Warren JFK on Monday, Oct. 19, in Warren, Ohio, closing the Lancers' regular season. The victory was Gilmour's 10th of the season heading into postseason play.
Hastings supplied half of the Lancers' scoring and added an assist, contributing directly to five goals in the high-scoring finale. That combination of finishing and creating chances led an attack that produced enough offense to overcome Warren JFK's five-goal effort in a match featuring 13 goals.
Kynzie Campbell and Gabby Merheb each contributed a goal and an assist, giving Gilmour two more players who both scored and set up a teammate. Nailah Williams also scored, providing another option in an offense that received goals from at least four different players.
Kelsey Pattison and Clara King helped supply the finishers with two assists apiece. Their combined four assists accounted for more than half of the seven credited to Gilmour's listed contributors. Hadley Bashein and Harper Wick combined for 10 saves in goal for the Lancers.
With the regular-season schedule complete, the Lancers turn to the OHSAA postseason tournament. Gilmour plays the winner of Norton and Akron Ellet in the first round on Saturday, Oct. 24.
