Huron Sweeps Gilmour to End Lancers' Eight-Match Winning Streak

HURON, Ohio - Huron defeated Gilmour Academy 3-0 on Saturday, Sept. 26, ending the Lancers' eight-match winning streak. Huron took each of the three sets and prevented Gilmour from extending the match despite contributions throughout the Lancers' rotation.

Kyla Williams led Gilmour's attack with eight kills and also recorded two blocks, giving the Lancers production on both sides of the net. Evelyn Meyers added eight kills and three digs, while Aiden Pike finished with six kills and four digs. Their combined work provided multiple attacking options as Gilmour tried to answer Huron's pressure.

Mira Siebert directed the offense with 23 assists and contributed four digs. Siebert's distribution helped Gilmour involve several hitters, but Huron secured the closing points in all three sets to complete the straight-set victory.

The Lancers also received steady back-row play from Kaya Wilson, who led the team with 14 digs. Ava Gillette collected seven digs, while Pike, Siebert and Meyers combined for 11 more. That defensive effort helped Gilmour extend points and create additional opportunities to run its offense.

The loss brought Gilmour's eight-match run to an end, but the Lancers left Huron with balanced production from their hitters, 23 assists from Siebert and several defensive contributions. Williams' two blocks complemented her team-high kill total, while Wilson anchored a back row that continued competing throughout the three-set match.

Girls Freshman and JV Volleyball also fell to Huron in straight sets, 0-2 and 0-2.

The Lancers are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at home versus Magnificat.
