Lancers Fall to Magnificat in Three Sets

GATES MILLS, Ohio - Gilmour Academy fell 3-0 to Division II powerhouse Magnificat at home Tuesday, Sept. 29, dropping the match 25-18, 25-17, 25-18. Evelyn Myers led the Lancers with eight kills, while Mira Siebert recorded 21 assists in the varsity volleyball matchup.

Magnificat took the opening set by seven points, then claimed the second set by eight to put the Lancers down 2-0. Gilmour matched its first-set scoring total with 18 points in the third, but Magnificat secured another 25-18 victory to complete the sweep.

Myers paired her team-leading kill total with two digs. Kyla Williams added seven kills and four digs, giving the Lancers another contributor on both offense and defense. Together, Myers and Williams accounted for 15 kills across the three sets.

Aiden Pike contributed five kills and eight digs, while Myra Lindberg finished with five kills and three service aces. Their combined 10 kills complemented the production from Myers and Williams, and Lindberg also supplied points from the service line.

Mira Siebert led the listed defensive performances with 10 digs, with Pike adding eight to that effort. Siebert handled the setting production with her 21 assists, supporting an attack that received at least five kills apiece from four different players.

The Lancers finished with 18 points in each of the opening and closing sets, but could not extend the match against Magnificat. The Lancers will look to bounce back in their next contest on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Anthony Wayne.
