PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Gilmour Girls Varsity Golf placed four golfers at 50 or better Tuesday, but Riverside used its home-course advantage to earn a 181-195 victory over the Lancers girls golf team at Painesville Country Club.
Brooke Leedy delivered Gilmour’s low round, finishing with a 46 to lead the Lancers’ scoring lineup. The performance accounted for the team’s best individual score and helped keep Gilmour within range as the four counting rounds combined for a team total of 195.
Callie Dennison followed with a 49, giving the Lancers two sub-50 rounds. Mae Steigerwald and Isabella Rosko each added a 50, providing matching scores to complete Gilmour’s team total. The Lancers’ four counting scores were separated by only four strokes, from Brooke Leedy’s team-best 46 to the pair of 50s.
Riverside’s total of 181 proved decisive on its home course. The hosts finished 14 strokes ahead of Gilmour, averaging 45.25 across four counting scores. Gilmour averaged 48.75, with each of its counting golfers remaining within five strokes of that mark.
Although the Lancers did not come away with the team victory, their compact scoring lineup provided the clearest takeaway from the match.
