Lancers Fall to Saint Joseph Academy in Four Sets

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Gilmour Varsity Volleyball fell to Saint Joseph Academy 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Cleveland, winning the opening set before dropping the next three. Kyla Williams and Ava Anders shared the Lancers' team-high of 13 kills apiece.
The Lancers edged Saint Joseph Academy 26-24 in the first set, securing the two-point margin needed to take an early match lead. Saint Joseph Academy responded with a 25-18 victory in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece.
The third set provided another close finish, but this time Saint Joseph Academy prevailed 25-23 to move ahead 2-1. Gilmour entered the fourth needing a win to force a deciding fifth set. Saint Joseph Academy instead closed out the match with a 25-11 fourth-set victory.
Williams contributed two blocks alongside the 13 kills, while Anders added six digs. Aiden Pike supplied production on both sides of the ball with eight kills and 16 digs. Kaya Wilson contributed 10 digs, giving the Lancers another double-digit defensive performance, and Mira Siebert finished with 15 assists and seven digs.
Gilmour competed below full strength, with multiple players battling injuries. Varsity Volleyball moved to 8-9 with one week of competition left in the regular season. The Lancers will look to bounce back in their next contest at Berea-Midpark on Monday, Oct. 12.
