NEWBURY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Gilmour Academy posted a team score of 397 to finish fourth at the OHSAA Division II sectional tournament Monday, earning the Lancers a place in the district tournament.
Mae Steigerwald led Gilmour with a season-best 88, placing seventh in the individual standings. Her round gave the Lancers their lowest score of the tournament and set the pace for a four-player lineup whose scores combined for the team total.
Callie Dennison added a 96 as Gilmour's second finisher and Brooke Leedy followed closely with a 99.
Isabella Rosko completed the scoring with a 114. With all four rounds counting, the Lancers finished at 397 and secured fourth place overall in the sectional field.
Steigerwald's seventh-place showing highlighted the individual results, while Dennison and Leedy helped keep the team total under 400. The nine-stroke difference between Gilmour's second- and third-lowest rounds also gave the Lancers three tightly grouped scores at the top of the lineup.
The fourth-place finish extends Gilmour's postseason run to next week's district tournament.
