Lancers Pull Away for Four-Set Win Over Saint Joseph Academy

Girls Varsity Volleyball earned a 3-1 victory over Saint Joseph Academy on Tuesday at home, winning 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-14. The Lancers responded decisively after the match was tied through two sets, controlling the final two to improve to 2-0 at home to begin the season.

The opening set stayed close before Gilmour secured the final separation in a 25-22 win. Saint Joseph Academy answered with a 25-22 victory in the second, sending the teams into the third set even at one set apiece. From there, the Lancers found another level on offense and at the service line.

Gilmour regained the lead with a 25-17 third-set victory, then delivered its most convincing performance in the fourth. The Lancers closed the match with a 25-14 win, completing a stretch in which they outscored Saint Joseph Academy 50-31 across the final two sets.

Outside hitter Ava Anders led the attack with 17 kills while adding three aces and six digs. Middle blocker Kyla Williams supplied production across the front row with 10 kills and six blocks, and she also contributed two aces. Together, Anders and Williams accounted for 27 kills and helped Gilmour pull away after the split opening sets.

Libero Avery Martin anchored the floor defense with a team-high 18 digs and put consistent pressure on the visitors with six aces. Setter Mira Siebert directed the Lancers' offense with 32 assists and added six digs. Their all-around work helped Gilmour turn a competitive opening half of the match into a strong finish and another home victory.
