Lancers Rally Past Padua in Five Sets for Sixth Straight Win

PARMA, Ohio - Gilmour Academy erased a two-set deficit and defeated Padua 3-2 on Wednesday night, extending its winning streak to six matches with a 10-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-13 comeback victory.
After struggling to establish momentum in the opening set, the Lancers began to find their footing in a tighter second. Padua still earned a 25-22 win to move within one set of closing the match, but Gilmour responded rather than allowing the early deficit to decide the outcome. The Lancers took control of the third set, winning 25-16 to force the match deeper and begin the comeback.
Gilmour carried that push into the fourth set, where it stayed composed in another close finish. The Lancers secured a 25-22 victory to even the match at two sets apiece, completing the first stage of the rally and sending the teams to a decisive fifth set. With little room for error, Gilmour prevailed 15-13 to finish the reverse sweep.
Kyla Williams powered the Lancers at the net with season highs of 24 kills and seven blocks. Her production gave Gilmour a reliable attacking option while also strengthening the team's defense. Aiden Pike added 10 kills and six digs, contributing on both sides of the ball during the five-set win.
Mira Siebert directed the offense and recorded a season-high 45 assists. Kaya Wilson led the team with 21 digs and added three aces, helping the Lancers withstand Padua's attack and create additional scoring chances. Avery Martin delivered a season-high seven aces and collected 11 digs, providing pressure from the service line and steady back-row play.
The result gave Gilmour an emphatic team victory after Padua controlled the first two sets. By winning three consecutive sets, including two decided by three points or fewer, the Lancers completed the comeback and pushed their winning streak to six.
