Lancers Ride Four-Goal First Half to 5-1 Road Win Over Bedford

BEDFORD, Ohio - Gilmour Boys Varsity Soccerw used a four-goal first half to take control Tuesday afternoon, defeating Bedford 5-1 for a decisive road victory. The Lancers carried a 4-1 advantage into halftime and protected that cushion throughout the second half to improve to 3-4.

The early scoring gave Gilmour separation before the break and allowed the Lancers to dictate the rest of the match. Bedford found the net once in the opening half, but Gilmour answered with enough attacking pressure to establish a three-goal halftime margin.

Dominic Schaffer powered the attack with four goals, providing most of the Lancers' finishing in the victory. Nick Friesen scored Gilmour's other goal and Julian Sweeney assisted on two of Schaffer's goals. Brett Kelly contributed another assist to a balanced playmaking effort behind the five-goal performance.

Gilmour remained organized defensively after halftime, holding Bedford scoreless over the final 40 minutes. The Lancers added one more goal in the second half while limiting Bedford's chances to mount a comeback. With the lead secure, the entire Gilmour bench received playing time during the second half.

The result gave the Lancers their third win of the season and featured contributions throughout the lineup. Schaffer's four-goal outing highlighted the afternoon, while Friesen, Sweeney and Kelly helped create the chances that turned Gilmour's first-half surge into a 5-1 road win.
