Lancers Roll to 8-1 Senior Night Win Over West Geauga
GATES MILLS, Ohio - Gilmour Academy (8-3-1) celebrated Senior Night with an 8-1 soccer victory over West Geauga (12-2) on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at home. Two-goal performances from Audrey Hastings, Clara King, and Kelsey Pattison powered the Lancers' attack as they handed the visitors their second loss of the season. West Geauga entered the match with 12 wins and only one defeat.
Hastings, King, and Pattison combined for six goals, accounting for 75 percent of Gilmour's scoring in the seven-goal victory. Nia Matlock and Ashley Batchik added one goal apiece, giving the Lancers contributions from several finishers. The scoring extended beyond the two leading contributors, with those two additional goals helping build the final margin.
The Lancers also received assists from five players. Madison Stirling, Gabby Merheb, Nailah Williams, Kynzie Campbell and Chloe Sbrocco each recorded one assist. Their contributions complemented the multiple-goal efforts up front and gave Gilmour a broad group of players involved in creating and finishing its offense on a night when the team scored eight times.
At the other end, Hadley Bashein made five saves as Gilmour limited West Geauga to one goal. Bashein's work in goal supplied the defensive contribution alongside the Lancers' scoring output, completing a home victory that moved Gilmour to eight wins through 12 matches. The Lancers play next at Buckeye on Saturday, Oct. 10.
