Gilmour Boys Varsity Golf posted a team score of 326 to finish second at the Joe Eaton Invitational at Tannenhauf Golf Club on Friday, Aug. 7. Enzo Marous led the Lancers with a 77, earning sixth place individually in a field of 90 golfers.
The Lancers built their team total with four counting rounds between 77 and 84. That consistency kept Gilmour near the top of the team standings, as only seven strokes separated the lowest round from the final counting score.
Jack Quinn followed with an 82, five strokes behind the team-leading round. Marty Klang added an 83, giving Gilmour three scores of 83 or better and placing the Lancers in a strong position on the team leaderboard.
Brody Race and Lorenzo Salvatore each carded an 84. One of those matching rounds completed the four-score total of 326, while the other equaled the team's final counting mark. The pair of 84s provided Gilmour with depth at the back of its lineup and left no wide gap among the team's final four scores.
The second-place finish combined a balanced team effort with one of the tournament's top individual performances from Enzo Marous.
The Lancers are back in action on Monday, Aug. 10 as they compete in the Hudson Explorer Invitational at Hudson Country Club.
