SLOW START CAN'T STOP LANCERS

By Bill Schneider Gates Mills, OH — The Gilmour Lancers overcame a slow start to beat the WRA Pioneers 11-4 Monday at Figgie Field at Sharnsky Stadium. CJ Santagata led the attack going 3-3 with four RBI. Aiden Anders (1-0) made his first career start, going five innings with six strike outs and three runs to earn his first career win. The Lancer bats looked downright sluggish the first time through the order. It was not until the top of the fourth that everyone finally woke up. WRA got a couple key singles around a walk and some wild pitches to take a 2-0 lead. When Gilmour came in after the third out, they came together and decided getting mad was not good enough. They were gonna have to actually make the adjustments and do something about it. By the time the dust settled GA had scored six runs of their own to take a 6-2 lead, that they would never relinquish. WRA answered with another run in the fifth, but Gilmour came right back with another four of their own in the bottom half. One more for good measure in the sixth sealed the deal. Brayden Titas made his big league debut by pitching the final two innings. Brady Olsen went 2-3 with two RBI. Joe Salerno, Tyler Hall and Paul Fox each chipped in two hits on the day. Gilmour hosts VASJ Tuesday at The House of Thrills. Christian The Colonel Kerner is expected to make the start for the 7-0 Lancers.
