BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Gilmour Boys Varsity Soccer edged Beachwood 3-2 on Tuesday, Oct. 6 with three different goal scorers providing the difference in the road victory. The Lancers’ scoring included an assisted finish, a penalty kick and a rebound goal as they built on a 1-0 halftime lead.
Yuryi Slivchuk scored with an assist from Evan Sammut, giving Gilmour a scoring combination that contributed both a goal and its setup. Gabe Carreon also scored on a rebound off a saved shot, turning a second chance into another goal for the Lancers.
Dominic Schaffer supplied Gilmour’s other goal from the penalty spot. The three finishes came in different ways, with the Lancers converting through a teammate’s assist, a penalty opportunity and a rebound. That variety accounted for all of Gilmour’s scoring in the one-goal win.
Gilmour carried its 1-0 advantage into halftime before both teams scored twice in the second half. Beachwood’s two goals kept the final margin narrow, while goalkeeper Kevin Moore recorded four saves for the Lancers. His work in goal complemented the contributions of Gilmour’s three scorers.
The victory moved Gilmour’s overall record to 5-8-1, adding a road win behind contributions at both ends of the field. The Lancers play next in their road contest against Orange on Thursday, Oct. 8.
