Varsity A Tennis Sweeps Padua 5-0 for Fourth Consecutive Win

PARMA, Ohio - Gilmour Varsity A Tennis extended their winning streak to four matches Tuesday, Sept. 22, earning victories on all three singles courts and both doubles courts in a 5-0 win over Padua at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Lancers controlled singles play behind Abigail Lynch, Maeryn Ryznar and Savannah Drew. Lynch delivered a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles, opening with a shutout set before closing the match in straight sets. Ryznar was similarly effective at No. 2 singles, dropping only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Drew completed Gilmour’s singles sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 position. The three straight-set results gave the Lancers a strong foundation, with the singles lineup collectively surrendering only six games across six sets.

Grier Peckham and Naya Hilal added another decisive result at No. 1 doubles. The pairing took the opening set 6-1 and maintained control in the second, finishing a 6-1, 6-2 victory that secured the Lancers’ fourth court win of the match.

The closest contest came at No. 2 doubles, where Scarlett Greer and Odessa Snyder prevailed in a three-set battle. Greer and Snyder won the opening set 6-4 before Padua answered with a 6-0 second set. The Lancers’ duo responded in the deciding match tiebreak, edging Padua 12-10 to finish the shutout and preserve the team’s winning streak.

Gilmour’s balanced performance featured convincing straight-set wins on four courts and a composed finish in the final doubles contest. With contributions throughout the lineup, the Lancers completed their fourth consecutive victory with a 5-0 team result.

Girls Varsity A Tennis is back in action tomorrow at home versus Shaker Heights on Senior Night. The Lancers will look to extend their win streak to five games.
