Varsity Volleyball Sweeps Hoban for Second Straight Victory

AKRON, Ohio - Gilmour Academy earned its first sweep of the season Thursday, defeating Archbishop Hoban 3-0 for its second consecutive victory. The Lancers won all three sets in the Sept. 3 match, pairing a productive attack with consistent pressure at the net and service line.

Middle blocker Kyla Williams led the Lancers with 14 kills and contributed across every phase of the match. KylaWilliams added three aces and four blocks, giving Gilmour a reliable finisher on offense while helping limit Hoban at the net.

Outside hitter Aiden Pike supplied another steady attacking option with 10 kills and three aces. Ava Anders added eight kills, six digs and three blocks, combining front-row production with defensive work. Together, Kyla Williams and Ava Anders accounted for seven blocks, while the three primary attackers totaled 32 kills.

Setter Mira Siebert directed the offense with 26 assists, creating opportunities for Gilmour's balanced group of hitters throughout the straight-set win. Libero Avery Martin anchored the back row with a team-high 14 digs and also recorded two aces. The serving contributions from Kyla Williams, Aiden Pike and Martin produced eight aces and helped the Lancers maintain pressure across the match.

The sweep marked another step forward for Gilmour after opening its winning streak in the previous match. With production from the middle, both outside hitters, the setter and the back row, the Lancers secured their second straight win without dropping a set at Archbishop Hoban.

Freshman Volleyball also picked up a 2-1 win and JV Volleyball lost 1-2. The Varsity Lancers move to 2-4 to start the season.
