BOLD pulled away for a 10-0 win over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Tuesday in Murdock, taking control while the Saints could not generate offense at the plate.

The Saints finished without a hit and struck out 11 times in a difficult afternoon offensively. That left little margin for error as BOLD built enough separation to end the game with a 10-run advantage. Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg was unable to string together pressure on the bases or answer once BOLD settled in.

Taylor VanHeuveln got the start in the circle for KMS, and senior catcher Shelbie Anderson handled the work behind the plate. With limited offensive support, the Saints needed clean innings and defensive execution to keep the game within reach. VanHeuveln and Anderson anchored the battery as KMS tried to slow BOLD's attack.

The biggest story for the Saints was the challenge at the plate. KMS never found the timely contact needed to flip momentum, and the 11 strikeouts underscored how tough the matchup was offensively. Without a hit to spark a rally, the Saints spent most of the game trying to manufacture a breakthrough that never came.

Despite the result, the game provided early-season experience for a KMS group that will look to respond in its next outing. The Saints were at home at 408 N. Hollis St. on Tuesday, and the matchup offered a clear formula moving forward, stronger contact, fewer empty at-bats, and support for the pitching staff in key spots.
