The KMS Schools band ensembles came together for a night of celebration as they performed an enchanting array of pops tunes during the KMS Band Pops Concert and Senior Awards Night held on May 6th. The event, located at the KMS Performing Arts Center, showcased the talent and versatility of the junior high, senior high, and jazz bands with a repertoire that delighted the audience. The jazz band's rendition of "Havana" was a true standout, enveloping the auditorium with its lively rhythm. One of the junior high band's most memorable moments was the energetic performance of "Squirrel Chase," where students not only showcased their musical skill but also added a playful twist by interjecting "SQUIRREL" at a key point in the composition. Senior high musicians captivated with a medley from Disney's "Aladdin" that brought the magic of the movie to life through a beautiful mix of melodies. The bands' overall performance highlighted their meticulous preparation, dedication, and unity. According to the band's director, Nathan Sikkink, "It was clear that their hard work and dedication paid off as these pieces were not easy. They worked together very well, and came out with an excellent performance." The concert also marked a bittersweet moment as seniors took the stage for their final performance as KMS band students. Sikkink praised the ten graduating seniors who performed, saying, "I am very pleased with how the band performed at our concert. I can't wait to see what we can create together in the future. Shoutout to the ten seniors who performed their final concert as a KMS band student including Hali Ahrndt, Eben Overcash, Anissa Demuth, Kate Marquardt, Collin Johnson, Cole Schliep, Amber Rosemeier, Evan Zimmer, Abby Hansen, and William Jorchumb." Looking ahead, the Fighting Saints Band is set for the upcoming marching band season with an intense lineup. The KMS Schools band is preparing to participate in about 10 parades in June, culminating in a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, at the beginning of July.
