Fighting Saints Narrowly Edged Out by Braves in Murdock Showdown

In a tightly contested football game on September 24, 2024, the KMS Fighting Saints 8th grade team faced off against their Highway 12 rivals, the Benson Braves, in Murdock. The game concluded with Benson securing a narrow victory, 12-6, over the Fighting Saints. Starting strong, both teams were locked at a 6-6 tie at halftime, thanks to a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rex Nelson to Hayden Duke for KMS. The second half continued with intense competition, but despite controlling the majority of the game, the Fighting Saints could not find the end zone again, ultimately conceding another score to the Braves. "It was a hard fought game from both teams. Our players did a great job controlling the game. We dominated the time of possession, having the ball about 80% of the time," stated KMS Coach DeBaere, reflecting on the team's performance. Highlights of the event included impressive contributions from Breken and Raul Navarro, who stepped up admirably in the absence of injured teammates.
