KMS 7th Grade Football Victory Against Montevideo in Season Opener

Jen DeBaere | KMS Schools | Sep 6, 2024

MURDOCK - The KMS 7th-grade football team captured a well-earned victory in their regular-season opener on a sunny day in Murdock, defeating the Montevideo Thunder Hawks with a final score of 12-6 on September 5, 2024. The game kicked off with intense competition, leading to a tied halftime score of 6-6. However, the Fighting Saints secured their win in the second half, finishing the game ahead. Two remarkable passes by Landon Gabrielson, a 15-yard touchdown to Kolten Anderson and a 20-yard touchdown to Eli Finstrom, were crucial for the Fighting Saints' success. Adding to the defensive efforts, Kirby Peterson made a significant play with an interception that contributed to keeping the Thunder Hawks at bay. "Great first game and first win of the season. All players worked hard," commented Coach DeBaere, praising the team’s collective effort and strategy. This victory sets a positive pace for the Fighting Saints as they look forward to their next challenge—a scrimmage against Willmar and NLS in Willmar on September 9, 2024. The team's current standing is a solid 1-0 as they prepare to build on their successful start.
