KMS Fighting Saints 7th Grade Team Falls to BBE Jaguars in a Hard-fought Football Encounter

Jen DeBaere | KMS Schools | Sep 11, 2024

MURDOCK, MN — The KMS Fighting Saints seventh grade football team faced off against the BBE Jaguars in a regular season game on September 10, 2024, ending in a 12-6 defeat for the home team. The game, held at KMS' home field in Murdock, showcased the determination of the young Fighting Saints against an opponent that fielded players from both seventh and eighth grades. The first half was a defensive standoff, with BBE taking a slight edge with a 6-0 lead. Throughout the game, KMS showed great resilience and adaptation. Jonathan Molenaar provided the highlight for the Fighting Saints with a 13-yard rushing touchdown, demonstrating the skills that the team continues to develop. Despite a strong effort, the final score read 12-6 in favor of BBE. Coach DeBaere commented on the team's performance, saying, "The seventh grade team keeps improving every day. BBE had one team that had players in both 7th and 8th grade. We didn't back down even though some of their players were bigger, faster, and stronger than us with more experience." This attitude reflects the spirit of KMS football as they build fundamentals and game sense in the face of tougher opponents. Looking ahead, the KMS Fighting Saints are set to take on the MACCRAY Wolverines in Maynard on September 17, 2024. With a current season record of 1-1, the team is focused on leveraging their experiences and continuing their growth in what promises to be an exciting matchup against their next opponent.
