KMS Fighting Saints C Squad Clinches Season Finale Victory Over MACCRAY Wolverines

In an exhilarating close to their regular volleyball season, the KMS Fighting Saints triumphed over the MACCRAY Wolverines with a final score of 2-1 on October 15, 2024, at KMS High School. This victory highlighted the impressive skills and teamwork of the KMS C Squad, bringing their season record to a commendable 8-5. From the onset, the Fighting Saints demonstrated their prowess with Avea Finstrom and LessiAnn Van Heuveln leading the team in kills and blocks, commanding the court in the first two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-15. Although the third set saw a shift with a 10-15 loss, the initial lead secured their win. The effective strategic plays were supported by notable performances from Vanessa Olson and Makenna Grothe in various capacities. KMS's defense shined with digs from Ira Gareis, Juliet Herrera, Vanessa Olson, and Makenna Grothe, while Gareis and Zoey Harkema served crucial aces. Hope Steinert’s skilled assists were pivotal in setting up powerful attacks throughout the match, which were crucial to their win. Coach Gjerde expressed her pride in the team's performance, reflecting on the season's successful conclusion, "Very proud of this group of girls. Tonight was the ending of our season, and we did it in great fashion taking down MACCRAY on our home court! They will do great things in their future here at KMS. Proud to be their coach."
