KMS Fighting Saints C Squad Faces Tough Challenge in Season Opener Against Sauk Centre
In their season opener on November 25, 2024, the KMS Schools' C Squad basketball team faced a challenging contest against the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters at KMS High School. Despite a spirited effort, the Fighting Saints were overpowered with a final score of 25-54. The game kicked off the regular season, marking a pivotal learning opportunity for the young KMS team. By halftime, the Fighting Saints were trailing, with a score of 13-21. The lead extended in favor of Sauk Centre as the game concluded. Coach Gjerde reflected on the match's outcomes, emphasizing the need to "continue to build success." With this first encounter under their belt, Coach Gjerde sees considerable room for growth and development. Highlighting their performance, Avea and Emily Finstrom led the scoring for KMS. Alongside their scoring efforts, Avea, Emily, and Ella Rood managed to secure a couple of steals each, contributing significantly to the defense. Ella Rood also stood out by providing 3 assists during the game. Every player from the C Squad made their mark on the scoreboard, displaying promising teamwork and dedication. Looking ahead, the Fighting Saints are gearing up to face the Dawson Boyd-Blackjacks on December 2, 2024, at Dawson Boyd. As they prepare for their upcoming challenge, the young KMS team is determined to improve on their 0-1 record and continue developing their skills and teamwork.
