KMS Fighting Saints Clutch Victory in Double Overtime Against Benson Braves

In a thrilling display of skill and perseverance, the KMS Fighting Saints varsity boys basketball team secured a 90-83 victory over the Benson Braves in a regular season game held at KMS High School on January 4, 2025. The game stretched into two overtimes before the Fighting Saints emerged victorious, improving their season record.

Despite trailing 31-34 at halftime, the Fighting Saints, under the guidance of Coach Fragodt, demonstrated remarkable resilience. Coach Fragodt hailed the performance as "one of the gutsiest" he has seen, emphasizing the strategic defense against Benson's formidable big players and praising the collective effort of his team. Gavin Mulder, with a game-high 28 points, alongside Hunter Engelke and Kody Tollefsrud, who added 22 and 17 points respectively, spearheaded the Saints' offense. Engelke also impressed with 7 rebounds and 6 steals, contributing significantly on both ends of the court.

The game's late stages were intense, with KMS implementing a game plan that saw effective matchups and clutch plays, highlighting the team's potential in pressure situations. Despite acknowledging the need for improvement in late game scenarios, Coach Fragodt remains optimistic as the team gains more experience.
