KMS Fighting Saints Face Tough Loss Against Montevideo Thunder Hawks in Basketball Showdown

In a challenging regular season face-off at KMS High School, the KMS Fighting Saints boys varsity basketball team faced a tough defeat against the Montevideo Thunder Hawks on January 2, 2025. The final score read 42-80 in favor of the visitors. The halftime score already showed KMS trailing with 26 points to Montevideo's 49, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Despite a spirited effort by the KMS team, the size and strength of the Thunder Hawks proved too substantial to overcome. Gavin Mulder led the team's scoring efforts with 16 points, showing significant prowess by frequently reaching the basket which opened opportunities for further outside shots. Teagen Diederich contributed an additional 10 points. Other notable performances came from Hunter Engelke, who pulled down 7 rebounds, and Alex Zurn, who managed 4 steals, highlighting their determination and competitiveness throughout the contest. According to Coach Fragodt, 'Montevideo was big and strong. I thought we gave a lot of effort they just were hard to guard. It was another game that we fell behind early but kept working the whole game. Gavin did a great job of getting to the basket and that lead to more outside shots. We will continue to keep pushing our young basketball team.' Looking forward, KMS hopes to turn their fortunes in their next game against the Benson Braves on January 4, 2025, at KMS High School.
