In an exciting regular volleyball confrontation on September 3, 2024, the KMS Fighting Saints varsity team faced a challenging match against the BBE high school Jaguars. Despite a spirited effort, the Saints were overpowered by the Jaguars with a final score of 0-3 in favor of BBE. The match took place at the BBE elementary school venue. Throughout the three sets, the Saints showed resilience but could not overcome the Jaguars' strong front row. The first set closed at 17-25, followed by 14-25 in the second set and a closely contested 18-25 in the third. Notably, the third set was a highlight for KMS as the team nearly bridged the point gap from 8-13 to 12-13, thanks to the strategic plays of Tayler Van Heuveln and Ava Noble. Leadership on the court was evident with Madison Silas, Savannah Petersen, and Emily Wagner leading in kills. Wagner also contributed significantly in blocks, alongside Maddie Luft. Abby Holtkamp, Emily Wagner, and Ava Noble were pivotal in digs, with Holtkamp also proving key in serving aces. Assists were ably handled by Leah Wagner and Ava Noble. Coach Ruf commended on BBE's robust lineup, stating, 'BBE is a very solid team that has a lot of weapons in their front row.' As the KMS Fighting Saints gear up for their next match against Lac Qui Parle on September 5, 2024, at Lac Qui Parle High School, they hold a record of 1-6 overall. The team remains optimistic, as displayed in their gradual improvement and cohesion over the season.
