KMS Fighting Saints Fall to EVW Eagles in Section Volleyball Clash
In a hard-fought Section volleyball contest on October 25, 2024, the KMS Schools varsity Fighting Saints faced a tough defeat against the Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles, with final scores of 0-3 in favor of EVW. The match, held at Eden Valley, showcased intense competition, particularly in the second and third sets where KMS nearly tipped the scale.
The Fighting Saints demonstrated resilience and skill, despite the unfavorable outcome. Lily Winter led from the front, delivering a standout performance with 7 kills, making it her best showing at the net this season. She also contributed significantly in blocks, securing 1 solo and 2 assists. Faith Duke added to the defensive effort with 2 assisted blocks. In the serving department, Emily Wagner excelled with 2 aces, supported by Maddie Luft and Morgan Anderson who each secured an ace.
The match saw impressive defensive efforts, with Ava Noble making 17 digs, followed closely by Leah Wagner and Emily Wagner, who each recorded 15 digs. Ava Noble also led in assists, providing 9 successful setups, while Leah Wagner contributed 7 assists.
Despite taking early leads in the second and third sets with scores of 23-25 each, KMS couldn’t clinch the win. Coach Ruf expressed both disappointment and pride in the team’s performance. "We were ahead in the 2nd and 3rd game but just couldn’t finish strong. Very proud of this team and their progress they have made throughout the season," said Coach Ruf reflecting on the match.
The Fighting Saints now hold a season record of 11-17, as they continue to build and improve their game. The team looks to carry forward the momentum and the lessons learned from tough matches like these into their future encounters.
