KMS Fighting Saints Fall to Paynesville in Murdock Showdown
The KMS Fighting Saints faced a challenging contest in their recent home football game against Paynesville on September 19, 2024. Despite an improved performance, especially in the passing game, the 7th grade team of KMS Schools could not secure a win, finishing the game at 0-14 against Paynesville Bulldogs. The game, played in Murdock, was a part of the regular season schedule. At halftime, the Fighting Saints were trailing with a score of 0-8. By the final whistle, Paynesville had extended their lead to 14-0. Coach DeBaere noted the competitive spirit of his team against a mixed grade opponent team, stating, "Paynesville was a tough opponent as their team had 7th and 8th graders on it. We did our best to battle against them. We were most successful through the air with our passing game." This reflects the strategic efforts made by the KMS team to leverage their aerial tactics which proved effective throughout the game. Looking ahead, the Fighting Saints are set to face the Benson Braves on September 24, 2024, again at home in Murdock. With a current season record of 1-3, the team is focused on capturing more victories in their upcoming fixtures. Fans and supporters of KMS Schools are hopeful that the team's strengths will shine in future encounters, building on the lessons learned from tough matches like the one against Paynesville.
