KMS Fighting Saints JV Shows Resilience in Volleyball Clash Against MACCRAY Wolverines

The KMS Fighting Saints faced a tough battle on their home court against the MACCRAY Wolverines on October 15, 2024, ultimately falling 1-2 in a tightly contested regular season volleyball match. The JV team from KMS Schools showed promise and intensity, beginning with a solid win in the first set before succumbing in the subsequent rounds. KMS started the match with a definitive 25-17 victory in the first set, leveraging strong performances by top scorers Avery Magaard, Acelynn Hacker, and Taylor VanHeuveln. However, the Wolverines countered in the second set, taking it 25-19, and continued their momentum to clinch the match with a 15-7 win in the third set. Despite the loss, the Fighting Saints displayed commendable defensive efforts, described by key players including Emily Holtkamp and Acelynn Hacker who were pivotal with crucial digs. Coach Carlson reflected on the team's performances, noting their strong start and the challenges they faced as the match progressed. "I am proud of the girls; they came out ready right away. Although we struggled to find our rhythm in the second and third set, we played hard all the way through," said Carlson. Individual highlights included blocks by Emma Gareis and Brooke Johnson, as well as serving aces from Gareis and Magaard. Looking forward, the Fighting Saints aim to regroup and adjust their strategies as they prepare to participate in the Underwood Tournament on October 17, 2024. With a current record of 10-7, the team remains optimistic about improving and showcasing their skills against future opponents.
