KMS Fighting Saints Narrowly Outscored by MACCRAY Wolverines in Intense Basketball Face-off

On December 9, 2024, the KMS Schools' Varsity Basketball team, known as the Fighting Saints, faced a challenging game against the MACCRAY Wolverines at Clara City - MACCRAY High School. Despite a spirited comeback in the second half, the Fighting Saints were narrowly defeated with a final score of 57-50.

The game commenced with the Fighting Saints trailing behind, marked by a halftime score of 21-33. However, Coach Fragodt's team showed resilience and improved performance post-intermission. 'We got off to a really slow start. Had too many chances to make plays and we didn't make them,' Coach Fragodt shared. He noted an uplift in the team's defensive efforts in the latter half of the game which almost turned the tide in their favor.

Hunter Engelke led the scoring for KMS with an impressive 20 points, followed by Gavin Mulder with 10 points, and Teagen Diederich contributing 8 points and 8 rebounds. Despite their efforts, a pivotal shot towards the game's end that could have shifted the momentum remained elusive.

The loss leaves the Fighting Saints with a season record of 0-2, showing room for improvement as they prepare for their next challenge. The KMS team is set to host the CMCS Bluejays on December 12, 2024, at KMS High School. Coach Fragodt emphasized the need for continuous improvement: 'I told the guys that we need to learn from every game and get better every game. I was proud of our effort the whole night.'

As the Fighting Saints regroup and focus on their upcoming game, the emphasis remains on learning from past performances to enhance their competitive edge in the league.
