KMS Fighting Saints Secure a Close Victory Over LQPV Eagles in Regular Season Basketball Clash

KMS Schools' varsity boys' basketball team edged out a thrilling victory against the Lac qui Parle Valley Eagles with a final score of 61-58 on January 7, 2025, at their home court. This intense regular season contest saw the Saints maintain a lead from halftime and clinch the win to bring their season record to 4-5. The game was characterized by a series of runs from both teams, making for a highly competitive atmosphere. By halftime, KMS had built a solid lead with a score of 36-25. However, the Eagles kept the pressure up, closing the gap by the final buzzer. Teagen Diederich starred for the Saints, scoring a remarkable 22 points, leading his team to this hard-fought victory. Additional standout performances included Hunter Engelke with an impressive 11 rebounds and Kody Tollefsrud who contributed significantly with 3 steals and 4 assists. Coach Fragodt of KMS expressed mixed feelings about the performance. "We have been able to pull out some close games lately. We had chances late to put the game away but we didn't. It was a game of runs for both teams. I thought we got better defensively as the game went on. We are glad that we got a good shooting performance out of Teagen. We are young and continue to learn every game," he reflected post-game. Looking ahead, the Fighting Saints are set to face the Lakeview Lakers on January 10, 2025, at Lakeview. The Saints aim to build on their victory and continue improving their performance as part of their ongoing development this season.
