KMS Fighting Saints Secure First Win in Regular Season Football against West Central Area Knights

On October 9, 2025, the KMS Fighting Saints demonstrated a notable performance in their regular season football game against the West Central Area Knights, resulting in a 24-8 victory. This win marked the first for the 8th grade team this season, reflecting a solid team effort and strategic plays throughout the game held in Barrett under cloudy skies. The Fighting Saints took an early lead and never looked back, heading into halftime with a commanding 16-0 advantage. Key players including Jonathan Molenaar and Eli Finstrom contributed crucial touchdowns that bolstered their lead. Notably, Molenaar showcased his versatility by rushing for a 5-yard touchdown and later securing a two-point conversion pass from Finstrom. Finstrom added to the scoreboard with both a quarterback sneak and a 5-yard rush for a total of two touchdowns, complemented by further two-point conversions from Isaiah Duron. Defensively, the Saints were robust with standout moments like Sam Ayon's sack adding to the team's momentum. Additionally, the team maintained possession impressively, particularly in the third quarter where they marched 70 yards over 12 minutes, concluding with a scoring drive that added 8 points. Reflecting on the game, the team's coach Brady DeBaere praised the efforts, noting the overall improvement and teamwork, specifically highlighting Duron's exemplary lead blocking. As KMS moves forward, they hold a current record of 1-7. The Fighting Saints are preparing for their next regular season game against the Morris Tigers on October 13, 2025, in Murdock, aiming to continue their progress.
