KMS Fighting Saints Varsity Volleyball Endures Tough Loss to MACCRAY Wolverines

KMS High School faced a challenging regular season volleyball match on October 15, 2024, against the MACCRAY Wolverines. Despite a valiant effort, the Fighting Saints were bested by the Wolverines with a final score of 1-3. The clash saw KMS winning the second set spiritedly with a score of 25-23, buoyed by a solid start leading 10-1 early in the set. This owed much to excellent team strategies that included effective serves and defensive plays as pointed out in the key moments of the match. Yet, MACCRAY rebounded in the subsequent sets, clinching the last two with scores of 25-20 and 25-18, respectively. Standout performances came from Maddie Luft and Madison Silas, each securing 7 kills for KMS. Luft also contributed impressively on defense, racking up 1 solo and 5 assist blocks. Emily Wagner led the team with 24 digs, showcasing her defensive skills. In terms of service contributions, Abby Holtkamp and Morgan Anderson each delivered 2 aces, contributing to the team's robust serving game. Despite the loss, Coach Ruf was positive about the team dynamics, highlighting the effective changes made in recent practices. "We changed up a few things in practice on Monday and it paid off. Great teamwork tonight by playing tough defense and solid offense," praised Ruf. The KMS Fighting Saints aim to bounce back in their upcoming outing at the Underwood Volleyball Tournament on October 17, as they look to improve their current season record of 9-14 overall and 3-8 in the conference.
