KMS Fighting Saints Volleyball Varsity Team Battles Tough Against Lakeview
In a fiercely contested volleyball face-off on September 17, 2024, the KMS Fighting Saints varsity team faced a challenging game against the Lakeview Lakers on their opponent’s court. Despite a spirited effort, the Fighting Saints were defeated with a final score of 0-3, in a regular season contest that saw each set closely contested with scores of 23-25. The Fighting Saints displayed a commendable performance, particularly in their attack. Maddie Luft led the team with an impressive tally of 14 kills, followed by Savannah Petersen with 9, and Madison Silas contributing 8. Defensively, Emily Wagner shone with 14 digs, supported by Morgan Anderson with 11, and Ava Noble, who also added 9 digs to her impressive 34 assists, showcasing her dual-threat capability on the court. A few critical moments during the event influenced the outcome, notably the eight-point loss in the first set, which included service and hitting errors. Despite these setbacks, KMS’s coach remained optimistic. Coach Ruf commented on the team's growth, highlighting recent improvements, "Our serve receive is improving every game now we need to adjust on a few other areas to finish the game." Looking ahead, the KMS Fighting Saints hope to turn their fortunes around in their next game scheduled for September 19, 2024, against the Canby Lancers in Kerkhoven. With a current record standing at 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference, the team is eager to demonstrate their progress and dedication to the sport.
