KMS Schools' Band Brightens the Evening with Enthralling 2024 Indoor Marching Band Concert
The KMS High School Gym buzzed with energy and excitement on November 12, 2024, as it hosted the breathtaking KMS Schools' 2024 Indoor Marching Band Concert. Engaging performances, sensational lighting effects, and standout individual efforts marked the event as a significant success for the Fighting Saints.
The concert kicked off with the Marching Band's show-stopping rendition of 'A Brand New Day,' incorporating party lights, black lights, and a fog machine that truly captivated the audience. The Marching Saints performed an array of classic songs including 'Mr. Blue Sky,' 'A Hards Days Night,' and 'Take Me Home, Country Roads.' The performance was a culmination of their summer routine, performed beautifully one last time before an adoring crowd.
Following the Marching Band, the Senior High Band kept the momentum with a collection of rock and roll anthems including 'Holding Out For A Hero,' 'Uprising,' 'Stairway to Heaven,' 'It's My Life,' and 'Old Time Rock and Roll.' Meanwhile, the Junior High Band brought their energy to the stage with renditions of 'We Will Rock You,' 'Rock and Roll All Nite,' 'Disturbia,' and 'Great Balls of Fire.'
Apart from the music, the KMS Drumline showcased an exceptional set featuring 'Stinkin' Garbage,' a creative piece involving overturned trash cans as instruments. Their excellence had previously been recognized with the best drumline award at the Alexandria parade, further highlighted by their exhilarating performance at the concert. Members such as Andrew Finstrom, Adam Davis, and Lane Magnuson, among others, played crucial roles in this spectacle.
An engaging fundraiser also took place where attendees could bid for a chance to pie the band directors. This not only added a layer of interactive fun but also demonstrated the close-knit community spirit prevalent at KMS Schools.
Director Nate Sikkink reflected on the night's achievements, stating, 'I am very proud of the hard work and dedication that the band students have put in over the past few months. They were able to put on this incredible performance with only 2-3 rehearsals each week. I'm looking forward to see what these bands can accomplish in the future.' The school community eagerly anticipates their next major event, the KMS Choir concert, scheduled for December 16, 2024.
