KMS Schools Fighting Saints Showcase Strength in Recent Cross Country Events
The results for yesterday's conference meet can be found on athletic.net: Camden Conference Cross Country Meet - Results - Cross Country Meet The Jr high girls ran extremely well to earn another team victory and even beat the only full boys Jr high team! We had 6 girls in the top 10. Top 6 received ribbons - Libby Henry 1st, Kayla Tollefsrud 2nd, Porsha Gravely 5th, Kenzlee Peters 6th. On the Jr high boys side, Wyatt Hoff was the boys Jr High Conference Champion with a time of 7:37! The Jr high kids are looking forward to competing on October 25th at the MN Middle School State Cross Country Meet in St. Michael. Mamie Luft ran very strong in the girls varsity race for a time of 24:57.38, nearly breaking her personal record of 24:57.20 set last week at Minnewaska. The boys varsity ran extremely well, but couldn't quite get the tight spread that Canby/Minneota had, and came away with 2nd place as a team. I am still very, incredibly proud of how hard the team ran and look forward to going after that team title again next year. Alex Zurn came away with 2nd place and Gavin Olson earned 9th place, both were Camden Conference All-Conference runners as the top 10 receive All-Conference. If I had to choose an MVP of the meet it would be shared by Levi Pappadackis and Carson Olson, who in the last mile closed the gap and caught a handful of runners to help our team score. JV Boys ran very strong as well. Top 6 were awarded ribbons. Charlie Molenaar ran strong the whole race and was 4th, and Noah Barrett went from 9th place to 5th place in the last mile to earn a ribbon as well. Shane Froehlich kicked just a little too late and could not quite catch the 6th place runner and ended up 7th; his goal was to run a 21:30 and was basically right there with a 21:32. Varsity runners will be competing in the Section 6A Championship meet next Thursday October 23rd at the Minnewaska Golf course in an effort to qualify for the State Cross Country meet on November 1st!
