KMS Wins $5,000, Eligible for Next Round of Top 25 in T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights Sweepstakes

Jen DeBaere | KMS Schools | Sep 12, 2025

For the second year in a row, KMS has been selected as a $5K Friday Night 5G Lights winner as part of the first round of the sweepstakes hosted by T-Mobile. T-Mobile will present the $5,000 check before the homecoming game against TMB on October 10, 2025. Winning the $5,000 means that KMS is now eligible to be selected as one of 25 schools nationwide to win an additional $25,000. Those 25 schools will then compete for the grand prize of $1,000,000. The public can help KMS become a Top 25 Finalist by posting as much as possible on Instagram and “liking” KMS.Saints posts. Posts should be about football, team spirit, and community. Each post must tag @tmobile and @kms.saints, as well as use hashtags #FN5GL and #sweepstakes. The tags and hashtags are essential for the post to count as a vote for KMS. We ask that all fans: parents, students, and community members - “like” @kms.saints posts on Instagram that include @tmobile, #FN5GL, and #sweepstakes. Each “like” counts as a vote for your Fighting Saints and moves us one step closer to the next round. T-Mobile is hosting this growing competition in association with NFL players Patrick Mahomes and Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski to help “light up” and bring attention to small town football programs in communities with populations under 150,000 residents. In 2024, KMS was one of 300 schools awarded the $5,000 prize out of more than 1,700 schools nationally that submitted an application. This year T-Mobile has expanded the number of schools eligible for the initial $5K to 450 schools nationwide and the finalist round moved from 16 schools to 25. This year, KMS is one of 450 schools nationwide and one of eight schools in Minnesota to win round one. According to Glenn Klaphake, KMS AD, "We have a strategic plan for any financial award dedicated to the safety, functionality and viewership of our varsity field venue, whether it be 5K, 25K or the big one, 1M. We are hopeful to stay in the running to apply these generous awards from T-Mobile Friday Night Lights." Schools were eligible to apply for the competition starting July 17 and KMS was selected as a winner in week two. Voting for round one winners lasts eight weeks, with the last day for schools to enter the contest being September 12. The top 25 finalists will be chosen by a panel of T-Mobile judges based on community impact, need, and creativity by September 25, when voting for the grand prize winner will open to the public and continue through October 24. The grand prize winner will win $1,000,000 cash, a consultation with a stadium experience expert, a weight room upgrade by Gronk Fitness, an all-expense-paid trip to the SEC Championship game for select school officials, a tailgate party after 2026 renovations, and more according to T-Mobile. The 2024 grand prize winner was Inola High School in Oklahoma. For more information about the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights sweepstakes, go to www.fridaynight5lights.com.
