KMS/Benson Cross Country Team Takes on Challenging Terrain at Koronis Hills Invitational

The KMS/Benson Cross Country Team showcased grit and endurance at the invitational held at Koronis Hills Golf Course, MN on September 24, 2024, competing against an array of schools across the region. The Fighting Saints participated in a grueling cross country meet and emerged with exceptional team results, despite the challenging course.

KMS/Benson secured an 8th place finish in the 5,000 Meters Varsity boys event and an impressive 3rd place in the 2,500 Meters Junior High girls event. Key performers like Mason McGeary and Levi Pappadakis stood out with their remarkable times, helping to elevate the team's standing. The day saw a comprehensive effort from athletes including Cian Klucas, Noah Barrett, and Jameson Klucas on the boys' side, alongside Porsha Gravley and Libby Henry for the girls.

The event was marked not only by competitive performances but by the testing nature of the course itself, described by Coach VanHeuveln as relentless in its physical and mental demands. "This is not a forgiving course. The kids had to be light on their feet as they climbed and descended hills continuously through the course. This is not a course where we see many personal bests, but it provides great physical and mental training for the meets to come!" noted Coach VanHeuveln.

Looking forward, the Fighting Saints are poised for their next event at Rivercrest Golf Course in Montevideo, MN, scheduled for October 1, 2024. The Montevideo Meet represents another opportunity for the team to demonstrate their resilience and skill in cross country running.
