KERKHOVEN, Minn. - KMS/Benson placed third with 50 points in the girls' C Squad race, led by a 1-2 finish from Libby Henry and Porsha Gravley, at the Paynesville/BBE Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Koronis Hills Golf Course. Libby Henry won the 2,500-meter race in 10:30.7.

The KMS/Benson runners competed after heavy rain Tuesday pushed the meet to Thursday. Training paid off on the demanding hills, with personal and season bests across varsity, junior varsity and C Squad races. Porsha Gravley finished in 10:34.6, just 3.9 seconds behind the winner. Both leaders are eighth graders. Kenzlee Peters placed 13th in 12:09.1, while Meridith Huston took 18th in 13:29.7 and Angela Espinosa finished 20th in 13:33.8. New London-Spicer won with 47 points, narrowly ahead of Rocori's 49 and Benson/KMS.

Levi Pappadackis, an eighth grader, led KMS/Benson in the boy's 5,000-meter varsity race with a 10th-place finish in 18:23.1. Wyatt Hoff placed 14th in 19:00.3, followed by Cian Klucas in 49th at 20:31.4, Noah Barrett in 59th at 21:43.8 and Shane Froehlich in 63rd at 23:03.2. KMS/Benson finished ninth among 10 scoring teams with 195 points, one point behind King's Academy. Sauk Centre won with 39 points, led by individual champion Logan Wiehoff in 16:43.4.

In the girls' varsity 5,000-meter race, eighth grader Kayla Tollefsrud placed 15th in 21:30.0. Ella Beyerl and Cadence Holmquist finished together in the standings, taking 36th and 37th in 24:32.4 and 24:40.1, respectively. Mamie Luft placed 51st in 26:41.3 and Cora Doering followed in 52nd at 27:11.8 to complete the scoring five. KMS/Benson took eighth among eight scoring teams with 187 points, four behind Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball. Rocori won with 31 points, and Bella Stang claimed the individual title in 19:45.6.

Peyton O'Leary paced the boys' C Squad over 2,500 meters, finishing 12th in 10:52.9. Atticus Goff took 25th in 12:08.4 and Shane Loen placed 36th in 12:53.0. A tight finishing group followed: Rogan Klucas, Hudson Helgeson and Cooper Hatfield occupied 39th through 41st, with their times separated by 4.5 seconds. KMS/Benson finished fourth with 104 points. Rocori and New London-Spicer each scored 37, with Rocori taking first in the team standings. Rocori's Jude Nathan won individually in 9:45.9.

Oswaldo Moreno led KMS/Benson's two men's junior varsity finishers, placing 18th over 5,000 meters in 21:25.5, a strong finish in his first race back after an injury from late summer. Jameson Klucas finished 52nd in 26:19.9. Sauk Centre won the JV team title with 16 points. Gabrial Harren took the individual title in 19:50.6.

The women's junior varsity race completed KMS/Benson's participation in all six divisions. Valentina Calderas placed 28th over 5,000 meters in 34:38.3, followed by Miley Falcon in 31st at 35:32.4. Rocori won the JV girls division with 36 points, while Natasha Stumpf finished first individually in 23:38.6.
