Lawrence Tech was shut out in both games of a Tuesday doubleheader at OU Softball Field, falling 6-0 in Game 1 and 2-0 in Game 2 as Oakland completed the sweep in Rochester, Mich.

The opener turned quickly in the first inning, when Oakland scored twice and never gave the Blue Devils room to recover. K. Turmell drove in the first run on a groundout, and Autumn Liebhauser followed with an RBI double for a 2-0 lead. Oakland added another run in the third on Liebhauser’s second RBI double, then put the game away with a three-run fifth. K. Bommarito singled in a run, Turmell doubled home another, and Liebhauser capped the inning with one more RBI double.

Lawrence Tech finished with three hits in Game 1, left three runners on base and committed two errors. Oakland collected nine hits. Storm Kentros led the Golden Grizzlies’ offense by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored, while Liebhauser had two hits and two RBIs. In the circle, Kama Skrek set the tone for Oakland, working six innings and allowing one hit with two strikeouts and one walk. Alyssa Balcom handled the final inning to complete the shutout.

Game 2 stayed tight longer, but Oakland again delivered the decisive early run and paired it with dominant pitching. Jessica Nelson singled, stole second and moved into scoring position before Alyssa Balcom’s single helped set up Taylor Carraway’s sacrifice bunt RBI in the second inning. Oakland added its insurance run in the fifth when Balcom tripled to right field and later scored on Carraway’s sacrifice fly.

Nelson was the standout in the nightcap, throwing a seven-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks. Lawrence Tech did not record a hit, left four on base and committed one error, while Oakland finished with five hits. Balcom had two hits and scored once, and Carraway drove in both runs without an official at-bat.

The doubleheader was played under cloudy skies, with announced attendances of 312 for Game 1 and 317 for Game 2. Lawrence Tech was limited to three total hits across the two games, while Oakland’s pitching staff combined to allow no runs all day. The Blue Devils now move on after a difficult offensive afternoon against two strong performances in the circle, first from Skrek and then from Nelson.
