Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils Basketball Team Faces Setback Against Cornerstone University

On December 17, 2025, in a competitive WHAC Conference home game at Don Ridler Fieldhouse, the Lawrence Tech University Women's Basketball team, known as the Blue Devils, experienced a tough defeat against Cornerstone University with a final score of 80-64. This battle showcased pivotal performances and strategic gameplay, marking another chapter in Lawrence Tech's challenging season.

The game commenced with Cornerstone quickly gaining the upper hand, led by Abby Hall's early 3-pointer. Despite efforts from Lawrence Tech's Kate Jacobs to even the scores with a crucial 3-pointer, Cornerstone led the first period 20-15. The second period saw Lawrence Tech attempting a comeback through pivotal plays by Sierra Robinson and Laura Innerebner, but Cornerstone maintained their lead, finishing the half at 44-32.

Entering the third period, Lawrence Tech continued to battle, with LaChelle Moreland-Jones striving to close the scoring gap through successful free throws, complemented by Kate Jacobs's defensive rebounds. However, Cornerstone's Jaxi Long consistently delivered from beyond the arc, keeping their team ahead with a 62-49 score at the end of the period. The final period witnessed a late push from Lawrence Tech, specifically a 3-pointer from Sydney Garon, yet Cornerstone's effective strategy and steady free-throw performance clinched their victory at 80-64.

Top performers included LaChelle Moreland-Jones for Lawrence Tech, leading with 27 points and significant rebounds and assists by teammates like Kate Jacobs and Liv Linden. The Blue Devils displayed a resilient defense, particularly notable in steals from players like Bailie Stephens. Despite the loss, the Blue Devils are looking forward to their next game against Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio, on January 3, 2026, hoping to improve their current record of 3-8 and conference standing of 2-4.
