VIERA WEST, Fla. — Lawrence Tech opened Friday’s doubleheader with an emphatic offensive outburst, scoring 20 runs over the first two innings on the way to a 25-2, five-inning run-rule win over Fisher (Mass.) at the Space Coast Complex.

Delaney Monroe led a relentless Blue Devils lineup, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, four RBIs and three runs scored as Lawrence Tech finished with 14 hits, 16 walks and 14 stolen bases. The Blue Devils put up eight runs in the first inning and 12 more in the second to seize control early and never allowed the Falcons to recover in the Spring Break matchup.

The tone was set immediately in the bottom of the first when Alyssa Bloomfield opened the frame with a triple. Alexis Lana followed with an RBI double, and the inning snowballed from there. Monroe delivered the first of her two long balls later in the frame, a two-run shot that helped push the advantage to 8-0 by the end of the inning.

Lawrence Tech’s second inning was even more lopsided. The Blue Devils sent a steady stream of hitters to the plate, capitalizing on walks, wild pitches and timely contact to plate 12 runs and stretch the lead to 20-0. Monroe homered again in the inning, another two-run blast as part of her four-hit day. Emmie Fowler added to the onslaught with a two-run double in the second and finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs, two doubles and three runs scored.

The Blue Devils continued to apply pressure in the middle innings. In the third, Lauren Miller came around to score on a passed ball as Lawrence Tech pushed the margin to 22-0. The Blue Devils added three more runs in the fourth, including tallies sparked by Jacqui LeBlanc and Kasey Snyder and aided again by a wild pitch and a passed ball, to make it 25-1 heading to the fifth. Lana was a constant presence on the basepaths, scoring four runs, driving in two, drawing three walks and stealing three bases.

Fisher broke through against the Lawrence Tech pitching staff in the fourth inning when Elley Cerda stole home for the Falcons’ first run. In the fifth, Fisher added a second run on an RBI double from Faith Fisher, who drove in Melina Mendonca. Those were the only blemishes on an otherwise strong effort in the circle and in the field, as the Blue Devils staff combined to allow just three hits and two runs with six strikeouts and no errors behind them defensively.

Fisher starter Myiah Vandyke was under pressure throughout, working all four innings and allowing 14 hits and 25 runs (20 earned) with 16 walks and 13 wild pitches as Lawrence Tech consistently created traffic and converted opportunities. The win gives the Blue Devils a dominant start to their Friday doubleheader and builds momentum as they continue their Spring Break slate at the Space Coast Complex.
