UPLAND, Ind. - <PERSON_1> swept Indiana East 25-18, 26-24, 25-15 on Saturday at Odle Arena, giving the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils their seventh victory of the season. The Blue Devils combined a fast start with a composed finish in the second set and a decisive run in the third to improve to 7-5.
Lawrence Tech scored the first four points of the opening set behind the serving of Lawrence Tech's, with Maria Trevino Nunez supplying two kills during the run. A kill by Catelyn Chapin helped extend the advantage to 11-3. Indiana East later cut a 13-5 deficit to 13-10 with a five-point rally, but the Blue Devils answered with three straight points and stayed in front. Chapin closed the 25-18 win with a kill.
The second set produced 10 ties and six lead changes. With the score even at 10, Lawrence Tech put together a six-point run that included two Temple kills. Indiana East responded, but Isabella Meyer delivered a kill to stop the push and give the Blue Devils a 23-17 lead. Indiana East then rallied to tie the set at 24 on a Lawrence Tech attack error. A service error gave the Blue Devils set point before Audrey Cramer served an ace to secure the 26-24 victory and a two-set lead.
Indiana East scored the first two points of the third set, but Lawrence Tech quickly took command with an 11-1 run. The surge included an ace and kills by Temple as the Blue Devils built an 11-3 advantage. Chapin later recorded a kill during a four-point run that moved Lawrence Tech to match point at 24-13. Indiana East fought off two match points before a service error completed the 25-15 set and the sweep.
Temple led the attack with 12 kills and 13 points while adding four digs and a solo block. Dru Temple Nunez directed the offense with 27 assists and completed a double-double with 10 digs. <PERSON_2> finished with a match-high 19 digs, three assists and an ace. Chapin contributed five kills on a .400 attack percentage and had three total blocks, while Ella Aberlich posted six kills and 7.5 points. Kyndal James added three kills on a .429 attack percentage and one solo block.
The Blue Devils finished with 33 kills, 32 assists, 47 digs, five aces and five total blocks. Lawrence Tech held Indiana East to 24 kills and a minus-.037 attack percentage. The Blue Devils next travel to face Defiance College on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. EDT.
