Basketball Advances To Regional Championship; Defeats Strongsville 56-48
In a hard-fought battle at Wadsworth High School, Magnificat Basketball secured a thrilling victory over Strongsville in the OHSAA Division I Regional Semifinal. The final score saw the Blue Streaks outscoring the Mustangs with a 56-48 win. The game started off tightly with both teams locked at 20 points at halftime. However, Magnificat's play in the third quarter led them to pull ahead and maintain their lead. Senior Reese Roggenburk was a standout, leading the scoring with a significant 21 points, followed by senior Sofia Wilson who contributed 15 points. Senior Julia Hall and junior Gemma Wichmann each added 8 points, bolstering the team's performance, while senor Sophia LaPorte chipped in 4 points and played exceptional defense to secure the win. The victory - their 9th in a row - pushes their record to 19-5. They are scheduled to face Jackson (Massillon) in the OHSAA Division I Regional Championship on Saturday, March 1st at 1:00pm once again at Wadsworth High School, aiming to clinch a spot in the State Final Four.
