Basketball Secures 58-27 Win Over Westlake In District Semifinal
Magnificat Basketball triumphed against the Westlake in an OHSAA Division I District Semifinal at Valley Forge High School on February 27th. From the first whistle, the Blue Streaks controlled the game, leading 38-10 at halftime and ultimately clinching a 58-27 victory over the Demons. High scorers for the Blue Streaks included junior Reese Roggenburk with 13 points, closely followed by senior Katie Maryo with 12 points (4 3-point field goals). Juniors Julia Hall & Sofia Wilson both contributed 10 points, and sophomore Gemma Wichmann added 8 points. The exceptional team play and broad-based scoring reflect the Blue Streaks' strength across their roster. With this win, the Magnificat advances to face off against Mentor in the OHSAA Division I District Championship which will take place at Valley Forge High School on March 1st at 7:00pm. As the Blue Streaks gear up to extend their current 18-6 record, the team aims to harness the momentum from this victory as they compete for their second consecutive District Title.
